Scholieren van het 6de en 7de leerjaar van het basisonderwijs en 1ste leerjaar van de MULO in Suriname zijn afgelopen week begonnen aan een driedaagse kunstactiviteit. Dit evenement werd georganiseerd naar aanleiding van het succes van eerste BE-STREAMING (Basic Education – Sciene- Technologie, Reading, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics ), welke in februari is opgezet en uitgevoerd ten behoeve van leerlingen van het basisonderwijs. STREAM is een onderwijsbenadering op het ‘actief leren’ en probeert in te spelen op maatschappelijke ontwikkelingen in Suriname. Door de verschillende vakken met elkaar te integreren, leren kinderen multidisciplinair te denken en verbindingen te leggen tussen gangbare schoolvakken zoals biologie en geschiedenis met kunst.

I saw the ad, and I just don’t get it. This is supposed to make Obama look bad? Showing a crowd of hundred of thousands cheering for him? Maybe this works on a level that I, being a pointy-headed intellectual out of touch with the beer-drinking masses, just don’t perceive. But I think the McCain people wasted their money.

Samantha Felix Finish your degree. Find a corporate job. Make some money for awhile. See what it feels like to have a savings. And, then decide if this is what you really want to do. Because there is no money on the other side of that PhD. Only a love of words and a desire to share it.
